Hi all,

As our first real games of the lacrosse season start up this weekend, I just want to send out a reminder about communicating conflicts and trying your best to make as many as the FYL events as possible. 


If you are missing a practice or game, going to be running late or needing to leave early, please indicate accordingly on the FYL app or email Liz Sheehan (erobertson15@gmail.com), who will be taking attendance. Players who miss one or more practices during the week will not be guaranteed a starting spot in the game lineup on the weekend.

~Spring Break~ Wall Ball

~Happy Spring Break~

I wanted to share the following wallball routine straight from Holy Cross Women's Lacrosse Team's Summer workout packet. The more work you put in on the wall the better your hands will be in the game. Use that extra free time during the break to improve as a lacrosse player.

WALLBALL ROUTINE

**50 REPS OF EACH HAND, 100 REPS TOTAL. 5 DAYS A WEEK!**

  • Quickstick- no cradle

  • Quickstick w/ 1 cradle

  • Off-side catch- throw strong side, catch weak side

  • Switch hands: Pass right, catch, switch pass left, catch left switch, pass right.

  • Fake High, Pass Side- arm

  • Fake Side-arm, Pass High

  • High pass one handed catch (hand at the bottom of the stick)

  • Bad pass and catch (throw at a bad angle so you have to reach & adjust your body to catch)

  • Behind the back

  • Ground ball low at the wall. Back up so you can run thru the GB and throw at wall after pick-up

  • Bounce passes

  • Spot shooting- use tape/ or chalk to mark a spot on wall, aim for that spot every time. Repeat with your back to the wall, self toss then turn and hit the spot. 

 

**FEET SHOULD ALWAYS BE MOVING DURING WALL BALL. DO NOT STAND! DO REPS BOTH CLOSE TO WALL (5 YARDS AWAY) AND THEN FARTHER AWAY (10-15 YARDS).FOCUS ON PROTECTING YOUR STICK, QUICK CRADLES AND QUICK RELEASES. **

Please always pack an extra ball or two in your lacrosse bag. See you all tonight! Those arriving early, we will go over B2bs (behind the back) passes for fun.
